New York: Oil prices rose nearly 1% at settlement on Monday, supported by a weaker dollar. Brent crude futures increased by 57 cents, or 0.86%, to settle at $67.04 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures gained 71 cents, or 1.10%, to settle at $65.29 a barrel.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Brent crude saw a 4% rise and WTI experienced a 6.2% increase last week, driven by the anticipation of a US-China trade agreement which heightened some investors’ interest. The weaker dollar also played a role, as the US currency index declined by 0.2%, making crude oil more affordable for holders of other currencies.
