Parliament Receives New Proposal to Change the Iraqi National Anthem


Baghdad: The Speaker of Parliament received a parliamentary proposal to change the Iraqi national anthem, submitted by MP Yasser al-Saadi of the Sadiqun bloc. The Parliamentary Department and the Labor Committee were directed to study the proposal.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the proposal aims to initiate a review process for the national anthem, which has been a subject of discussion among various parliamentary members. The proposal was officially submitted to the Speaker, who has tasked the relevant committees within the parliament to examine the potential changes.



The Parliamentary Department, alongside the Labor Committee, will assess the proposal’s implications and provide recommendations. This process is expected to involve consultations with experts and public opinion to ensure that any changes reflect the country’s values and identity.



MP Yasser al-Saadi, representing the Sadiqun bloc, has been vocal about the need for the anthem to resonate more with the Iraqi people. The proposal represents a step towards addressing these sentiments within the legislative framework.
