Baghdad: The Parliamentary Committee on Services and Reconstruction convened a consultative meeting to deliberate on the suspension of demolitions of homes constructed on encroached land, a decision made by the Prime Minister. The meeting addressed the conditions for resuming these demolitions, the procedures following the suspension, and the broader issues of state oversight regarding its properties.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee’s discussions extended to the agricultural reform file and the municipal land subdivision map, highlighting the corruption linked to land subdivision in agricultural areas south of Baghdad. In response, the committee recommended summoning key officials, including the head of the Baghdad Provincial Council and directors from the State Real Estate Department and Land Registry, to provide further insights and solutions.

Additionally, the meeting saw the proposal for the formation of two committees, one for Baghdad and another for the provinces. These committees are tasked with conducting field visits and preparing comprehensive reports to offer practical solutions aimed at overcoming development obstacles, accelerating progress, and preventing corruption across all service sectors in Baghdad and the provinces.
