Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has announced that the proposal from the Parliamentary Education Committee to change the start date of the new academic year to October 1st is currently “under consideration”.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ministry of Education spokesperson Karim al-Sayed addressed the matter in a press release, emphasizing that the proposal was submitted by the Parliamentary Education Committee as a suggestion and not as a binding decision. He reiterated that the ultimate authority to issue any changes to the academic calendar rests with the Ministry of Education itself.

Al-Sayed further noted that while the proposal is under review, no new decisions have been made regarding the start date of the academic year. The process of evaluating such proposals involves thorough consideration of various factors before any official announcements are made.
