Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has reaffirmed Iraq’s firm and principled stance in rejecting the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing that Iraq’s position is rooted in consistent values of its foreign policy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani received on Monday the Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Shura Council, Mahmoud Nabavian, along with his accompanying delegation.

The statement noted that the meeting included a review of the latest political and security developments in the region, particularly in light of the recent Israeli attack on Iran. The two sides also discussed ways to enhance regional security and cooperation.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stated that the Iraqi government had submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations regarding the aggression, and stressed ongoing communication with world leaders and international powers to contain the conflict and prevent its escalation.

For his part, Nabavian conveyed the greetings of the Iranian President and the Speaker of the Shura Council to Al-Sudani, expressing appreciation for Iraq’s stance. He also praised the role of Iraq’s religious authority and government in condemning the aggression, affirming the importance of coordinated efforts to promote regional stability and fulfill the aspirations of Arab and Islamic peoples for sustainable development.
