Baghdad:The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Commission has announced that heavy imprisonment sentences have been handed down to defendants involved in drug-related cases. This development is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related crimes.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the PMF’s General Directorate of Security and Discipline, specifically the Directorate of Investigations and Preventive Security, has been actively arresting suspects in connection with drug-related offenses. These arrests are a part of a broader initiative to address the drug menace and apprehend those participating in trafficking activities.
The PMF Commission reported that after completing investigative procedures, recording confessions, and securing judicial documentation, the defendants were referred to the appropriate judicial authorities. As a result, they have received heavy imprisonment sentences under Article 28 of the Narcotics Law. The Commission emphasized that these rulings reflect the Directorate’s sustained security and investigative efforts to target drug dealers and traffickers and mitigate the spread of drugs, which pose a significant threat to community safety.
Furthermore, the General Directorate of Security and Discipline has reiterated its firm commitment to fulfilling its security and legal responsibilities. It will continue its efforts to track individuals involved in drug-related offenses and ensure they face justice, thereby safeguarding national security and protecting society.
