Baghdad:According to the National Iraqi News Agency, a meeting of the Presidencies took place with Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, President Nizar Amidi, Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi, and Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan in attendance. The focus was on completing the cabinet to enhance government operations and elevate the performance of state institutions, allowing for effective implementation of government priorities and addressing citizens’ needs and upcoming challenges.

The meeting covered the general situation in the country and regional developments, emphasizing the importance of security and political, and social stability. Efforts to improve living conditions, public services, and public confidence in state institutions were highlighted.

Prime Minister Al-Zaidi briefed attendees on his participation in the UN General Assembly in New York, where discussions with international leaders focused on strengthening Iraq’s international relations and mutual interests.

Preparations for celebra
ting Sovereignty Day were discussed, highlighting the expansion of international relations into economic, trade, and cultural cooperation, and strengthening partnerships to support national interests. Support was expressed for exempting Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport from US Treasury measures.

The meeting underscored that decisions regarding peace and war should reside with the state, with arms possession limited to constitutional and legal institutions. Addressing weapons outside state authority through legal channels was agreed upon to reinforce sovereignty and security.

The importance of legislative action was stressed, with calls to expedite priority laws and activate the Council of Representatives’ oversight role to improve institutional performance and accountability. Support for combating administrative corruption was reaffirmed.

Economic challenges due to regional tensions were discussed, with measures to strengthen the national economy emphasized. The meeting reiterated Iraq’s call for regional dialogue
and diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully, enhancing regional security and stability.
