Baghdad: The President of the Republic has underscored the importance of ensuring justice for the families of the Anfal victims and safeguarding their rights. President Nizar Amidi emphasized the necessity of providing justice for these families during a meeting at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, where he received several families of Anfal victims on Tuesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the presidential statement revealed that during this meeting, the circumstances and needs of the Anfal families were discussed, and their demands and aspirations were heard. The session was also attended by Member of Parliament Sarwa Mohammed, where the President acknowledged that the suffering endured by the Anfal families represents a painful chapter in history. He reiterated that providing justice and preserving the rights of the victims is both a national and moral responsibility. He highlighted the critical need for documenting these crimes and preserving the national memory to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring.
The President also emphasized the necessity of supporting and compensating the Anfal families appropriately for the violations and genocide they suffered. He stressed the importance of safeguarding their rights and ensuring they receive the necessary care and attention. The delegation members, in turn, expressed their appreciation to the President for his attention to their issues and emphasized the importance of continued support for their rights and needs.
