Karbala: President Nizar Amidi emphasized the importance of investing in renewable energy to enhance energy security in Iraq. The Presidential Media Office stated in a press release: “The President visited the Al-Nour Solar Energy Production Plant, affiliated with the Holy Abbasid Shrine, in Karbala Governorate on Wednesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the visit, the President was briefed on the plant’s operations, production lines, and the manufacturing stages of solar energy systems. He also received an explanation of its production capabilities, the technologies used, and future development and expansion plans.
The President affirmed that ‘investment in renewable energy represents a crucial approach to strengthening energy security in Iraq,’ noting the necessity of supporting projects that utilize modern technologies and provide sustainable solutions to meet the needs of citizens and institutions.
He pointed out that “expanding solar energy projects would contribute to diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on traditional fuels, in addition to mitigating environmental impacts and promoting the concept of sustainable development.” He praised the role of the Holy Abbasid Shrine in establishing industrial, scientific, and developmental projects, and in utilizing available resources and modern technology to serve the community.
