Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amidi, visited the holy city of Karbala to perform the pilgrimage rituals at the shrines of Imam Hussein ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the President’s media office detailed that during his visit on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, President Amidi prayed for the protection of Iraq and its people. He expressed hopes for the continuation of security and stability in the country and urged for greater unity and joint action among the Iraqi people to further peace, development, and prosperity.
