Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amidi, emphasized the importance of strengthening national efforts to protect the environment and curb pollution.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, A presidential statement reported that the President of the Republic received the Minister of Environment, Sarwa Abdul-Wahid, today, Thursday, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.

During the meeting, a number of files and issues related to environmental affairs were discussed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of bolstering national efforts to protect the environment and reduce pollution, as well as supporting plans and programs aimed at improving environmental conditions in the country.

According to the statement, the meeting also reviewed mechanisms for coordination and cooperation among relevant authorities to address environmental challenges, promote sustainability, and preserve natural resources-measures intended to positively impact citizens’ health and safety
