Baghdad:According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council of Ministers has decided to exempt major international pharmaceutical companies from conditions that previously restricted their participation in the Iraqi market.

The Ministry of Health announced that during its 19th regular session, the Council of Ministers approved exemptions for these companies, aiming to facilitate their return and involvement in Iraq.

The directive also includes instructions for the Ministry of Finance to expedite funding for contracts made by the State Company for Marketing Drugs and Medical Supplies.

This decision is part of Health Minister Abdul-Hussein Al-Mousawi’s strategy to prioritize the availability of medicines and medical supplies, adhering to internationally approved standards. It also seeks to foster a competitive market environment based on quality and pricing.

The ministry emphasized that the move aims to streamline procedures and meet the requirements necessary for the return of these companies, following a proposal made by the health minister during the Council session.
