Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi praised the essential role of pharmacists in strengthening the health system in Iraq. His media office stated in a press release that Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the head of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Haider Fouad al-Saigh, on Monday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed several issues of concern to pharmacists, ways to improve the profession, and how to enhance its contribution to supporting the health sector and serving citizens. The Prime Minister commended the essential role of pharmacists in strengthening the Iraqi health system, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting them, meeting their needs, and working to resolve issues related to the Medical and Health Professions Residency Law. This aims to regulate the professional path of pharmacists and enhance their role in the health sector in general.

Al-Zaidi also pointed to the importance of involving the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate in consultations and deliberations regarding the Food, Drug, and Medical Supplies Authority, which is slated for establishment. This will ensure the utilization of professional and specialized expertise in this field.
