Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi is set to embark on an official visit to France next Sunday, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. This visit underscores the ongoing efforts to fortify the diplomatic and cooperative ties between Iraq and France.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office emphasized the significance of this trip in a press release, highlighting its aim to explore avenues for expanding partnerships across multiple sectors, with a focus on energy and security. During his visit, Al-Zaidi is scheduled to meet President Macron on Monday, September 14, to engage in discussions on various regional and international issues that are of shared interest.

The agenda will include an expanded meeting between the Iraqi and French delegations, co-chaired by the leaders, to establish new partnerships between Baghdad and Paris. Discussions will cover the general frameworks for bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy, security, energy, and education. Furthermore, the visit will feature a signing ceremony for several memoranda of understanding in these sectors, aiming to address a range of regional and international challenges collaboratively.
