Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi emphasized on Thursday the importance of the positive role of religious figures in strengthening the social fabric.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release that “Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received on Thursday a delegation from the Qadiriyya Sufi Order, headed by its legal custodian and Secretary-General, Sheikh Khalid Abdul Qadir al-Kilani.”

The statement highlighted that al-Zaidi stressed the importance of religious figures in fortifying the social fabric by promoting a moderate discourse and fostering a culture of tolerance and brotherhood. He underscored the need to combat extremist ideologies, reject violence, hatred, and division, and enhance the bonds of brotherhood among all the people of Iraq.

The Prime Minister further noted the government’s dedication to caring for all holy religious sites. He emphasized the objective of providing excellent services to visitors from both within and outside Iraq, which is anticipated to boost and revitalize religious tourism in the country.
