Putin and Trump Discuss Ukraine Conflict Over Phone


Baghdad: The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump spoke by telephone to discuss the situation in Ukraine.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conversation between the two leaders revolved around the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the outcomes of the visit by US Special Envoys Steve Wittkopf and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv. Yuri Ushakov, an aide to President Putin, mentioned that the discussion aimed at finding resolutions to the conflict, with both leaders expressing a commitment to seeking peaceful solutions.



During the conversation, Putin provided Trump with a comprehensive analysis of the recent developments concerning the Russian military operations in Ukraine. He also acknowledged the American mediation efforts, highlighting their potential role in resolving the conflict. Ushakov noted that Trump emphasized the urgency of ending the conflict to pave the way for improved US-Russian relations.



The recent visits by Wittkopf and Kushner to Kyiv and Moscow were aimed at engaging with officials from both countries to explore settlement opportunities for the conflict, which has persisted since February 2022.
