Baghdad: The Security Media Cell has announced the resumption of passenger and trade entry at the Al-Shaib, Al-Shalamja, and Mandali border crossings, following directives from Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision was made after a comprehensive review of the border crossings’ operations and an assessment of their organizational and technical needs. This process involved coordination with all relevant departments and agencies, aiming to enhance border security while ensuring a smooth flow of trade and movement of citizens.

The Security Media Cell’s statement outlined that timelines have been established for completing the necessary organizational and operational requirements at the Al-Shalamja, Mandali, and Al-Shaib crossings. This preparation is intended to ensure operations resume according to the required procedures, maintaining high levels of organization, control, and efficiency.

The statement detailed the decisions made following coordination between the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Border Ports Authority. These include specific dates for the resumption of passenger and trade activities at the respective border crossings, with passenger entry resuming at Al-Shaib and Al-Shalamja on September 13, 2026, and trade resuming at Al-Shalamja, Mandali, and Al-Shaib on subsequent dates.

The statement also confirmed the continuous operation of transit and trade with Iran, which remains active 24 hours a day at the Zurbatiya and Al-Mundhiriya border crossings.
