Moscow: Russia announces that its forces have surrounded approximately 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers in the Kharkiv region. The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that its forces are currently besieging these soldiers in northeastern Ukraine, creating a tense military standoff.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated in a press release that the Russian “Northern” forces have encircled the Ukrainian soldiers and are actively engaging in operations to dismantle several strategic positions within the region. The ministry emphasized the ongoing offensive efforts by Russian forces to tighten the noose around the encircled Ukrainian troops.

The ministry further detailed that Russian ground and tactical air forces, supported by attack drones, missile forces, and artillery, have targeted key Ukrainian transport and supply infrastructure. These facilities are reportedly utilized by the Ukrainian armed forces, and further strikes have been directed at drone storage sites and components. Additionally, temporary deployment locations of the Ukrainian armed forces in 142 areas have been shelled, resulting in significant casualties and equipment losses, including the death and injury of 1,265 Ukrainian soldiers and the downing of 498 drones. The assault also led to the destruction of numerous armored fighting vehicles, exacerbating the challenges faced by the encircled Ukrainian forces.
