Baghdad: A parliamentary bloc has issued a final ultimatum to the government, urging the swift submission of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law to the Council of Representatives. The Sadiqun parliamentary bloc has highlighted the urgency of addressing the rights of PMF members, emphasizing that any further delay is unacceptable.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, MP Uday Awad, leader of the Sadiqun bloc, addressed a press conference on Saturday, underscoring the necessity for prompt action. Awad revealed that a recent meeting with the Prime Minister included a clear request for the immediate referral of the draft law to the Council of Representatives. This request followed an official letter sent to the Council of Ministers, urging the completion of legislative procedures for the PMF draft law.

Awad stressed that the bloc has exhausted all channels of follow-up and official communication, marking this deadline as the final opportunity for submission. He warned that any delay beyond this point would be deemed unjustified and would compel the Council of Representatives to utilize its constitutional and oversight authorities to ensure the law’s passage and the fair treatment of the PMF institution.

The bloc plans to initiate oversight measures immediately after the deadline, aiming to secure the inclusion and enactment of the draft law. This is intended to safeguard the rights of PMF members and honor the families of martyrs and wounded personnel.
