SDF Apprehends ISIS Financial Transfer Leader in al-Hawl Camp


Al-Hasakah: The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced the capture of a key ISIS financial transfer official in the al-Hawl camp. The detainee, identified as Salah Abdullah al-Abd, also known as “Abu Azawi,” is an Iraqi national.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the SDF Media Center released a statement revealing that the arrest took place amidst the ongoing efforts to disrupt ISIS operations, particularly in northern and eastern Syria. Despite ISIS’s attempts to exploit the chaotic conditions in Syria for resurgence, the SDF remains committed to dismantling the terrorist group’s cells and apprehending its operatives.



The statement detailed that a military operations team (TOL) conducted a targeted security operation in al-Hawl camp, located southeast of Hasakah city, on March 12. The operation aimed to apprehend Abu Azawi, who was identified through investigations as being a significant figure in ISIS’s financial network.



The SDF’s statement highlighted that Abu Azawi was responsible for managing ISIS’s financial transfers in Iraq and maintained frequent communication with the organization’s leadership within Syria. His arrest marks a significant blow to ISIS’s financial operations and its efforts to regain strength in the region.



The Syrian Democratic Forces reiterated their dedication to eliminating ISIS hideouts and financial sources, emphasizing their mission to thwart any attempts by the group to reorganize. This ongoing effort is aimed at ensuring the security and stability of the region.
