Kirkuk: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Shakhwan Abdullah has announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has directed the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers to undertake measures to implement the law for returning lands to their rightful owners in Kirkuk.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani has approved the recommendations made by a special committee aimed at addressing the issues faced by Kurdish farmers in the Sarkaran district of Kirkuk Governorate. The approval follows a request sent to the Prime Minister on February 17, 2025, concerning farmers’ issues and the implementation of the law to annul the Baath Party’s previous decisions. In response, Prime Minister Al-Sudani instructed Lieutenant General Abdul Karim to form a committee that was dispatched to Kirkuk to develop a series of proposals.
Deputy Speaker Abdullah stated that Lieutenant General Abdul Karim informed him about the Prime Minister’s approval of the proposals. Additionally, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has been advised to issue instructions concerning the implementation of the law to ensure the lands are returned to their rightful owners.
