Sharjah: The Sharjah Art Foundation has announced the opening of applications for artists and creatives residing in the UAE to secure private studio spaces. These studios are located in the Collections Building and Bait Obaid Al Shamsi in the Arts Square, offering vital resources for artistic research, experimentation, and production near the Sharjah Art Institute and the Sharjah Art Museum.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this initiative is part of the ‘Studio’ program, which provides opportunities for artists to rent studio spaces for both short and long-term periods. Artist Ismail Al Rifai, the Director of Translation and Arabic Content at the Sharjah Art Foundation, highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to drawing contemporary art and cultural programs that invigorate the local and regional artistic scene. The Foundation aims to harness creative energies, foster innovative visual art driven by research and individuality, and facilitate dialogues with diverse cultural identities, thereby mirroring the richness of the local environment.
Al Rifai further elaborated that the Sharjah Art Foundation supports a variety of initiatives, including the Sharjah Biennial, March Meeting, the Artist-in-Residence Program, and the Education Program, among others. The Foundation’s public and educational programs are dedicated to emphasizing the essential role of arts in community life by promoting public education and fostering an interactive approach to art.
