Sharjah: The Sharjah Art Foundation has inaugurated the Photograph Gallery, marking it as the United Arab Emirates’ first public gallery solely dedicated to photography. This new cultural hub is designed to celebrate the art of photography by blending the heritage of the region with contemporary concepts, creating a unique space where classical paintings are interwoven with modern installations and sculptures in a culturally rich setting.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Sharjah Art Foundation’s initiatives are structured around four main pillars: the Sharjah Biennial, a significant international gathering that draws contemporary artists from across the globe; the March Meeting, an annual event that facilitates dialogue and idea sharing among art practitioners and professionals; the Artist-in-Residence and Grants Program; and various educational and production programs.

The Foundation is renowned for its ability to attract a varied array of contemporary art and cultural programs, fostering meaningful discussions that engage with diverse cultural and civilizational identities. This approach reflects the richness and cultural diversity inherent in the local environment. A recent highlight was a dialogue led by Sudanese theater director, Dr. Youssef Eidabi, with moderation by critic Ismail Al-Rifai.
