Sheikh Humam Hamoudi Advocates for Productive Investment and Contract Review

Baghdad: Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, has made a call for a shift towards productive investment, a review of existing contracts, and the withdrawal of stalled projects. This call to action aims to enhance the country’s investment environment and align it with sustainable development goals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Hamoudi convened with Adel Al-Yassiri, head of the National Investment Commission, to discuss the current state of the investment climate. The meeting focused on the challenges and requirements for attracting investment and how the Commission’s strategies can support the government’s sustainable development program.

During their discussion, Sheikh Hamoudi commended Al-Yassiri for his initiative in engaging directly with business leaders and offering facilities to them. He emphasized the importance of focusing on productive investments that would bolster state assets, lessen reliance on oil revenues, and invigorate the labor market.

Sheikh Hamoudi also highlighted the necessity of building trust in the investment environment through transparency and facilitation, to attract both domestic and foreign capital. He called for the removal of hurdles impeding infrastructure projects that impact the daily lives of citizens.
