Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Cairo, affirming that Egypt and Saudi Arabia share aligned interests and goals. Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, highlighted Sisi’s appreciation for the strong fraternal relations between the two nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, both leaders agreed that the relationship between Egypt and Saudi Arabia should serve as a model within the Arab framework. Sisi emphasized that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states is integral to Egyptian national security. Egypt expressed its firm stance against any threats to the Kingdom’s sovereignty and stability, as well as any violations of international maritime navigation rights.

The discussions underscored the need for increased solidarity and coordination, with both nations recognizing their unified interests and the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation. The leaders agreed to intensify efforts to advance trade and investment, aiming to elevate their relations in line with historical ties and strategic proximity.

The spokesperson further noted that the talks covered regional developments and challenges, with President Sisi reiterating Egypt’s steadfast support for Saudi Arabia and all Arab states amidst current circumstances. The meeting also highlighted the shared stance on ensuring maritime security in key regions such as the Straits of Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Red Sea.

On the Palestinian issue, the alignment of Egyptian and Saudi positions was reaffirmed, emphasizing the importance of a just settlement based on a two-state solution. The meeting stressed the need to implement the US President’s peace plan, adhere to UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and ensure humanitarian aid delivery to the Gaza Strip, while condemning Israeli violations in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
