Baghdad: The Security Media Cell-SMC announced on Sunday the resumption of the entry of passengers and the movement of trade through the Shib, Shalamcheh, and Mandali border crossings, based on directives from Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zeidi.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the decision was made following a review of the operational situation at the border crossings and an assessment of their organizational and technical requirements, in coordination with all departments and agencies operating there. The measures are intended to enhance border security while maintaining the smooth flow of trade and the movement of citizens.

The statement further elaborated that timelines have been set for completing the organizational and preparatory requirements at the Shalamcheh, Mandali, and Shib crossings. This preparation is in line with achieving the highest levels of organization, control, and smooth movement necessary for the resumption of operations.

The Security Media Cell noted that after coordination between the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Border Ports Authority, decisions were made regarding updates to systems and procedures. Consequently, passenger entry through the Shib and Shalamcheh crossings resumed as of 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Trade operations are set to follow with Shalamcheh on Monday, September 14, Mandali on Tuesday, September 15, and Shib on Thursday, September 17, all starting at 6:00 a.m.

The Security Media Cell emphasized that cross-border movement and trade with the Iranian side have remained uninterrupted at the Zurbatiya and Al-Mundhiriya crossings, continuing around the clock.
