Speaker of Parliament Condemns Use of Iraqi Territory for Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi condemned the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reiterating that “the use of Iraqi territory or passage through its airspace to threaten the security of the Kingdom or any neighboring country is unacceptable and condemned, and is inconsistent with Iraq’s policies, national interests, and relations with its brothers and neighbors.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Halbousi stressed the importance of adhering to the principle of restricting weapons to the state and its constitutional institutions, under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, which strengthens state sovereignty, preserves the country’s security and stability, and prevents Iraq from being drawn into regional conflicts.

He affirmed his support for the measures taken by the Iraqi government, foremost among them the launch of an urgent investigation to uncover those involved in these attacks and to take legal action against all those proven to be involved.

The Speaker of Parliament commended the efforts to contain the situation and maintain fraternal relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a way that preserves Iraq’s interests and spares the country and the region further escalation.
