Baghdad: Former Finance Minister Taif Sami Mohammed has firmly rejected circulating rumors suggesting her inclusion on a terrorism watch list, asserting that such claims are unfounded and devoid of any official documentation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sami addressed the reports, which have been spreading on social media and various media platforms, insisting there is no basis to the allegations regarding her supposed listing on a US terrorism watch list. “We have been following the statements and allegations circulating about us, including information regarding my travel outside Iraq, as well as other claims concerning my alleged inclusion on terrorism watch lists in the United States, and the resulting restrictions on my entry into the US,” she stated.

Sami reassured the public that these rumors are false, stating, “What has been circulating in this regard is untrue. I am currently in Iraq and have not left the country as has been claimed.” She also clarified previous assertions about being barred from entering Washington during her tenure for International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, confirming she has no plans to travel to Washington following her retirement.

Additionally, Sami refuted claims of being summoned by any court or receiving judicial notifications, which contradict reports circulating through certain media and social platforms. She emphasized that allegations of her inclusion on US terrorism watch lists are unsubstantiated and merely political statements from Congress members, lacking any official confirmation.

Concluding her statement, Taif Sami declared, “I reserve all my legal rights against any party or person proven to have deliberately published false or misleading information about me, and I will follow the appropriate legal procedures in accordance with the law.”
