Baghdad: The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has announced an anticipated drop in temperatures, with five governorates expected to record lows below 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the organization released a statement detailing the weather conditions for the upcoming days. Wednesday’s forecast predicts clear skies with temperatures similar to those of the previous day. The maximum temperatures for Wednesday across Iraqi governorates are expected to be: Dohuk 35, Sulaimaniyah 36, Erbil 37, Nineveh and Kirkuk 38, Anbar 40, Baghdad, Salah al-Din, and Diyala 41, Karbala 42, Babylon and Diwaniyah 43, Wasit, Najaf, and Muthanna 44, Maysan 45, and Dhi Qar and Basra 46.

The weather statement further elaborated on Thursday’s conditions, predicting clear weather in the central and southern regions, with some cloud cover in the northern region. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the central and southern regions while remaining constant in the north.

The organization also provided insights into the weather for Friday, which is expected to be clear in the central and southern regions, with partly cloudy skies in the north. Temperatures are forecasted to remain similar to those of the previous day across the country.

Saturday’s weather forecast includes generally clear skies, with light to moderate northwesterly winds becoming active during the day in the southeastern region. These winds may reach speeds of up to 30 km/h, potentially causing dust storms. Temperatures will remain similar in the central and northern regions, with a slight decrease anticipated in the south. Horizontal visibility is expected to be very good, ranging from 8-10 km, and 6-8 km in dusty conditions.
