Baghdad: The head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, Patriarch Mar Paulos III Nona, met with Rami Joseph Aghajan, head of the Christian, Yazidi, and Mandaean Endowments Office, to discuss strengthening cooperation in humanitarian and service-related fields.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Rami Joseph Aghajan stated, “We received His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paulos III Nona, the Supreme Head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the world, in the presence of the directors general and senior staff of the office.” He noted that this marked the Patriarch’s first visit to the institution’s building, signifying a milestone that reflects the depth of the relationship between the office and the Chaldean Church.
Aghajan highlighted that this initiative opens new horizons for partnership and cooperation, serving the needs of religious communities in Iraq and reinforcing their position within the national fabric. The meeting included a review of the Diwan’s work and strategic policies aimed at improving care for all religious communities and meeting their service and administrative needs.
The Diwan prioritizes supporting religious institutions of various affiliations, enhancing their societal presence, and working to preserve Iraq’s religious and cultural diversity. The meeting reviewed several topics of mutual interest, particularly ways to enhance cooperation in humanitarian and service sectors. Discussions also covered mechanisms to support stabilization projects in areas with diverse religious communities and emphasized joint efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all components of the Iraqi people.
