Baghdad: The National Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical and Biological Regulatory Authority (NNRRA) has reassured citizens that there are no signs of radioactive contamination following the United States’ airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites. The announcement aims to alleviate public concern about potential environmental and health risks resulting from the military actions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the authority, Fadel Mezban, stated in a press release that since the initial airstrikes on June 13, 2025, by Israeli forces on Iranian nuclear facilities, the NNRRA has implemented appropriate measures to address and respond to these developments.

Mezban further explained that following the recent airstrikes carried out by the United States, radiation monitoring, early warning systems, and radiation background measurements at border crossings have been vigilantly assessed. The findings indicate that no significant radioactive contamination has been detected. He emphasized that all radia
tion levels remain within the limits of the natural radiation background, ensuring safety and stability for the surrounding regions.

The NNRRA’s continued monitoring and transparency are crucial in maintaining public trust and demonstrating the authority’s commitment to safeguarding environmental and public health amid international tensions.
