Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received the new Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy to Iraq, Steven Fagin, at the Baghdad Palace on Monday. The Presidency’s Media Office stated in a statement: “At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated Fagin on assuming his duties, wishing him success in his work.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added that bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America were discussed, and ways to develop them in various fields were reviewed. The President noted the importance of the stability Iraq is witnessing in the political, security, economic, and developmental fields, as well as the development of its relations with its regional and international surroundings, which enhances the expansion of horizons of bilateral cooperation with the United States and achieves common interests.
For his part, the Charg© d’Affaires reiterated the United States’ keenness to continue cooperation with Iraq in its efforts to achieve development and stability, praising its pivotal role in consolidating the foundations of regional security and peace.
