Accra:According to Iraqi News Agency, Omar Al-Waeli, the head of the Border Ports Commission, has reported a notable increase in trade activity at border crossings, with exports through the Trebil crossing now exceeding 300 trucks per day. This development is part of an effort to prioritize the swift movement of perishable goods, food products, and raw materials essential for the food industry.
Border crossings are operating continuously to expedite transaction processing, ensuring timely delivery of goods to markets. This approach aims to maintain adequate supply levels and stabilize prices. Al-Waeli emphasized the high operational efficiency at the crossings, highlighting ongoing coordination with various agencies to facilitate uninterrupted trade activities with neighboring countries and partners.
In recent weeks, there has been a significant rise in exports from Iraq to neighboring nations, demonstrating Iraq’s growing capability as an exporter. This shift indicates a strategic move towards reducing reliance on imports and enhancing Iraq’s role in global trade.
