Washington:US President Donald Trump has criticized Germany’s clean energy policies, claiming that reliance on them has pushed the country to the brink of collapse.
Accourding to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump reiterated his rejection of the move towards green energy in statements reflecting the ongoing disagreement between the US administration and several European countries regarding the future of the energy transition.
Speaking to his supporters in Tennessee, Trump argued that the United States does not need green energy, adding that countries relying on it are approaching bankruptcy.
The US president further claimed that Germany tried this approach and was on the verge of “extinction,” without providing details or data to support this characterization.
Trump’s statements are part of his repeated criticism of climate policies that promote renewable energy sources, while he simultaneously calls for increased oil, gas, and coal production, which he considers crucial for energy security and stable supplies for the US economy.
