Accra:US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the existence of serious tension between Washington and Kyiv. Rubio spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for 45 minutes on Tuesday to discuss the current situation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rubio reported that President Trump is feeling frustrated and angry due to accusations that he is harming Ukraine, as well as the lack of progress in settlement negotiations.
Rubio emphasized that there have been no changes to military cooperation or intelligence sharing with Ukraine, denying any suspension orders from Trump. Any disruptions were attributed to technical issues affecting early-warning data receipt, not a deliberate decision.
Zelenskyy has requested Patriot missiles, continued intelligence support, and the restoration of normal operations for the Starlink and Starshield systems. Rubio clarified that Ukraine is not being deliberately deprived of interceptor missiles. The issue involves balancing US commitments to other partners alongside Ukraine’s military needs.
