Mugla: Turkish authorities announce they have “largely” brought the forest fires in Mugla and Antalya under control. The Turkish General Directorate of Forestry announced that its teams and firefighters have largely brought under control the fires that spread through the forests of Mugla and Antalya provinces in southwestern Turkey in recent hours.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate stated in a post on the “X” platform on Monday: “We have largely managed to control the fire in the Mentese district of Mugla province after intensive aerial and ground operations that lasted for several continuous hours to contain the fires burning in Mentese, as well as in Serik, Antalya.”

A large fire broke out in the forest area at dawn on Sunday in the town of Mentese in Mugla province, southwestern Turkey. Due to strong winds in the region, the fire, whose cause is still unknown, quickly spread to the Armut§uk neighborhood in the town of Ula, adjacent to Mentese.

Seven fixed-wing aircraft, 13 helicopters, 32 fire trucks, seven bulldozers, 62 water tankers, 12 construction vehicles, and 232 personnel participated in the firefighting efforts, while 11 ambulances supported the evacuation operations.

The Governor of Mugla, Idris Akbeyk, noted that efforts to extinguish the fire from the ground and air were ongoing, and that two houses in the town of Man§e and one house in the town of Ula had been evacuated.

In the town of Serik, east of Antalya, firefighting teams were still working to extinguish the blaze, along with aircraft of both types. Gendarmerie and commando units had taken precautionary measures to ensure the security of the area and support the firefighting efforts.
