Riyadh: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the latest developments in the region and the attacks targeting the Kingdom with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan and bin Farhan discussed the latest regional developments and the recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia during a phone call on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, Saudi Arabia announced injuries and the precautionary shutdown of the East-West pipeline after it was targeted in several attacks in the Riyadh and Medina regions. The Saudi announcement of the precautionary shutdown came two days after the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen” announced that the Houthis had launched ballistic missile and drone attacks towards the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia.

This coincides with a military escalation between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis on several fronts, particularly in the governorates of Taiz, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Al-Dhale’, amidst airstrikes targeting Houthi positions. Yemen has been embroiled in war since the Houthis seized control of the capital, Sana’a, and several other provinces in September 2014, before a Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
