Ankara: The head of Turkish intelligence, Ibrahim Kalin, held discussions with Khalil al-Hayya, Deputy Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, focusing on recent developments in the ceasefire negotiations and addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conversation between Kalin and al-Hayya revolved around the ceasefire negotiations currently underway, which are part of proposals made to Hamas by US envoy Steve Witkoff. The discussions included Turkey’s collaborative efforts with the international community to alleviate the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and facilitate the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

The dialogue also highlighted Turkey’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people. Both officials explored necessary measures to expedite prisoner exchanges and ensure the flow of humanitarian assistance, ultimately working towards achieving a permanent ceasefire.

The importance of maintaining negotiations mediated by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt was stressed during the call. There was a strong emphasis on the need for the international community to apply pressure on Israel to bring an end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
