Ankara: The Turkish presidency has voiced strong opposition to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies, asserting that they pose a threat to regional stability and declaring that Turkey will not permit the destabilization of Syria.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Presidency criticized the recent claims by Netanyahu’s office, describing them as attempts to justify illegal airstrikes on Syrian territory. These airstrikes, which occurred early Tuesday morning, targeted the runway of Abu al-Duhur military airport in Idlib province, causing material damage to its infrastructure.
In a statement released by the Directorate of Communications early Wednesday morning, the Turkish Presidency dismissed the Israeli claims as unserious and asserted that they aim to legitimize actions that undermine Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement also accused Netanyahu of pursuing expansionist and destabilizing policies in the lead-up to the Israeli elections.
The Turkish Presidency emphasized that Turkey, along with the majority of the international community, is committed to achieving lasting peace in the region. It called on Netanyahu to abandon his aggressive policies and adhere to international law. Furthermore, the statement highlighted Turkey’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the Syrian government on legitimate grounds to ensure security, stability, and prosperity, reiterating Turkey’s stance against any attempts to destabilize Syria.
