Umm qasr: The Umm Qasr Central Port Authority has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 23 vehicles that were arriving under transit status.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Border Ports Authority announced the thwarting of the smuggling attempt at the Umm Qasr Central Port. The vehicles were meant to pass through Iraqi territory towards neighboring countries under transit status.
The operation was conducted based on information received from the Umm Qasr Central Customs Police Station. Judicial approvals were obtained from the Umm Qasr Investigation Court judge before the operation. The vehicles were intended to be smuggled using special exemption letters designated for retired officers and families of martyrs.
A formal seizure report, supported by photographs, was prepared to present the case to the Umm Qasr Investigation Court judge. This was done to ensure the necessary legal actions could be taken against those responsible for the smuggling attempt.
