Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs, Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, met with the Jordanian Ambassador to Iraq, Hani Al-Tarawneh, alongside Dr. Makki Ghazi Al-Mohammadi, the Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Statistics and Geographic Information Systems.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on exploring joint cooperation opportunities between Iraq and Jordan, particularly in the area of population censuses. Iraq’s successful experience with its recent population census in 2024 was highlighted as a potential model of support and technical assistance for Jordan, which is preparing to conduct its own census in November.

The Jordanian Ambassador expressed appreciation for the cooperation between Iraq and Jordan, emphasizing the significant support Iraq has provided to Jordan, particularly in conducting population censuses. Al-Tarawneh also discussed with Dr. Al-Mohammadi the potential for exchanging technical expertise in statistical surveys and population censuses, congratulating the Iraqi authorities on their successful census and noting its importance as a success story from which Jordan could greatly benefit.
