Ankara: Turkey’s unemployment rate fell by 0.3 percentage points in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, reaching 7.9 percent. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced labor force data for the period from April to June 2026 on Wednesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the data showed a decrease of 84,000 unemployed individuals aged 15 and over during this period, compared to the previous quarter, reaching 2,799,000. The data also indicated a 0.3 percentage point decrease in the unemployment rate during this period, reaching 7.9 percent, with a rate of 6.7 percent among men and 10.3 percent among women.
The unemployment rate also decreased by 0.6 percentage points year-on-year in the second quarter of this year. According to the data, the number of employed individuals increased by 155,000 in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, reaching 32,479,000. The employment rate also rose by 0.1 percentage points during the same period compared to the previous quarter, reaching 48.5 percent.
