Baghdad: The US Central Command announced the destruction of five Iranian crude oil tankers following attempts by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to target a US warship with ballistic missiles.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Central Command stated that the US warship successfully evaded the two Iranian attacks and continued its patrols without sustaining any casualties. It added that all attempts by the Revolutionary Guard to target US Navy warships failed, confirming that no US personnel were injured.
The Central Command identified the destroyed tankers as the Caves, Charminar, Horizon 1, and Risko in the Gulf of Oman, along with the tanker Darya near Kharg Island. It indicated that Iran uses these tankers as part of what it described as a “billion-dollar clandestine network” to finance the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Tehran’s proxies in the region.
