Pacific ocean: The US military has taken decisive action against drug cartels, sinking a ship in the Pacific Ocean that was reportedly supporting the Los Choneros cartel. The US Southern Command forces executed the operation last night, destroying a vessel that was facilitating drug trafficking activities for the cartel, which is recognized as a violent terrorist organization.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Combined Western Hemisphere Task Force successfully intercepted and destroyed the floating fuel terminal in the eastern Pacific. This terminal was confirmed to be involved in illicit drug trafficking operations linked to the Los Choneros cartel. After securing the vessel, US forces disembarked its crew and subsequently sank the ship. The crew members apprehended during the operation will be handed over to Ecuadorian authorities to face drug trafficking charges.

In connection with the operation, Lieutenant General Francis Donovan, commander of the Southern Command, underscored the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug-related terrorist networks. Donovan asserted, “We continue to apply relentless pressure on these terrorists, hitting them where it hurts most by dismantling their complex networks, disrupting their sophisticated logistics, and striking at their financial resources. This represents comprehensive systemic friction.”

This marks the second such operation in less than a week by the US Southern Command, following the sinking of an Ecuadorian vessel on September 9th, which was also allegedly linked to the Los Choneros cartel and drug trafficking activities in Latin America. Media reports indicate that this latest action is part of a broader effort targeting the logistical infrastructure of drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific, with six vessels having been targeted in less than two weeks.
