Washington: US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to stop financial aid to South Africa, citing concerns over its land policy and a genocide case filed against Israel, the White House announced.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the executive order reflects Washington’s stance on South Africa’s legal actions at the International Court of Justice against Israel, which the US views as opposing its interests and those of its allies. The White House also disclosed plans to resettle South African farmers and their families as refugees, in response to the Pretoria authorities’ actions.

The executive order is presented as a measure to address human rights issues in South Africa. President Trump had previously threatened to cut funding to the nation, alleging land confiscation and mistreatment of “certain categories of people,” though he did not provide evidence for these claims.
