Baghdad: The Iraqi Hunters Association has issued a warning to all hunters in Baghdad and the provinces regarding the hunting of pheasants, highlighting that these birds are currently in their breeding and hatching season.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the association released a statement emphasizing the presence of young chicks that require care and feeding from their mothers. The association urged hunters to comply with legal and ethical regulations to preserve animal resources and wildlife in Iraq. It highlighted the necessity of halting the pursuit and hunting of pheasants during the breeding season until the official hunting season opens, urging adherence to specified quotas and numbers.
The statement also stressed the prohibition of using electronic sonic callers, encouraging hunters to play a role in protecting wildlife and reducing practices that threaten the Iraqi environment. The association emphasized that adherence to hunting ethics and wildlife preservation is a shared responsibility, crucial for sustaining the hobby and safeguarding wildlife for future generations.
