Washington:The Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a potential deal to sell 500 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, According to U.S. Department of State.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the approval of the missile sale, which still requires congressional ratification, follows weeks of complaints from Ukrainian authorities about their depleted stock of interceptor missiles.
The State Department stated that the proposed sale would enhance Ukraine’s ability to address current and future threats by improving its integrated air and missile defense capabilities. The department also emphasized that the sale would support U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by bolstering the security of a partner nation contributing to political and economic stability in Europe.
The cost of the arms sale will be covered through donations from Ukraine’s allies, rather than U.S. funds, as noted by the State Department.
