Doha: A joint meeting took place today between the Wasit provincial government and Iranian officials, attended by the head of the provincial council and security and service leaders from both Iraq and Iran, to discuss logistics for the upcoming Arba'een pilgrimage to the shrine of Imam Hussein.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Wasit Governor Ali Salimoun stated that the meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a crisis cell aimed at addressing issues at the Zurbatiyah border crossing. Additionally, a mechanism was agreed upon for transporting pilgrims in organized batches and establishing a direct transport route from the border crossing to the holy city of Karbala. This agreement is expected to facilitate a smoother flow of pilgrims.

The governor highlighted the continued Iraqi-Iranian collaboration on security and service matters, aiming to provide optimal services to pilgrims and ensure the successful implementation of the Arba'een pilgrimage plan.
