Baghdad – Vice President Iyad Allawi appealed to the Prime Minister Haidar Abadi and the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani to open the door to dialogue to end the crisis.
Allawi said in a press statement: “After we launched an initiative to resolve the crisis in our country and the positive response of Massoud Barzani to this initiative, I sent a letter to the Prime Minister today urging Abadi and Barzani to invest this development by moving to a practical page and open the door to dialogue without preconditions”
Allawi called on the parties to be the ceiling of dialogue is the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq. While calling on the United Nations to support the dialogue
He called for an end to the escalation of the media campaigns and decisions that cause more tension, stressing the need to make maximum efforts to avoid any armed clash in the disputed areas, primarily Kirkuk province.
He called for finding solutions at the national level and moving away from external interference of neighboring countries, which would deepen the crisis and pull Iraq into more disputes and tensions.
Allawi concluded, “All parties should seize this opportunity to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation, to get out of quotas and to build up the institutions that will lead to a state of citizenship based on justice, equality and the rule of law.”
