BAGHDAD / President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani discussed with US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter hot files on the Iraqi arena and the region in the forefront the retaking Mosul from the grip of Daesh.
A statement by the presidency of the province said that Barzani met with Carter yesterday evening and discussed with him the military operation on ground to regain Mosul in addition to steps to fight against (Daesh) in Syria. ".
The statement added that "Carter expressed satisfaction with the coordination between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces as he considered it the most prominent factors of progress in the war against (Daesh) in Mosul.", Stressing his support for the Peshmerga forces in eliminating (Daesh) stressing "his country's commitment to its pledges to the Peshmerga and the agreement concluded between the two sides to support those forces in military and financial terms. ".
For his part, Barzani thanked the United States of America for providing ongoing support for the Peshmerga forces in the war against terrorism, calling for continued support for the victory of freedom and high values.
Meanwhile Carter awarded four of Peshmerga fighters / Medal of Courage / as an expression about the role of the Peshmerga forces in the war against (Daesh).
The US defense secretary has arrived in Baghdad yesterday morning in unannounced visit during which he met Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. / End
